We realized that we don’t really like talking about ourselves on social media: filming ourselves making a coffee in the shop isn’t really our thing (and is it even that interesting?). So, we thought it would be more meaningful to share more unique stories or simply tell the story of “The Bichette”!
So, we’ve decided to write a few lines each week (if time allows) about topics close to our hearts: entrepreneurship, life in the shop, our challenges, Marcel’s life 🐶 in the shop (a very important topic!!), etc. And of course, if you want to suggest a topic, feel free to leave us a message! You know how much we love interacting with you 😊
The most important thing is to share these stories with you!
And what better way to start than with a question you often ask us in the shop:
How did we create “The Bichette,” and especially, why did we choose that name?
It all started in July 2020 when, during the summer, we lost a dear friend from our close circle. A “bichette” left us too soon, reminding us how important it is to enjoy life without regrets.
That’s when I made a decision (yes, Gauthier is the one writing this article, under Juliette’s watchful eye 🤓): to launch a business idea I had been thinking about for a while. In December 2020, I left a major retail chain to create my own company. Six months later, I realized that this brilliant idea wouldn’t be viable in the short term (3 to 4 years), and that it would take several more years before we could fully live off of it. Not very reassuring, we decided to let go of the project.
So, I went back to job hunting, without any regrets for having tried this entrepreneurial adventure. At that time, I was lucky enough to have a year and a half of professional retraining left to create my own business.
That’s when Juliette suggested we start an e-shop where we could sell accessories and women’s clothing… You can see where this is going!
I thought it was a fabulous idea! Juliette loves fashion, and I was a financial controller in… textiles 😁 The idea of combining our skills to work together was an exciting project! Add a bit of resourcefulness, some “geek” skills, and above all, a shared passion for future plans, and voilà: we had our project!
The only thing left was to find a name for the shop. For Juliette, the name was obvious: “Bichette,” the nickname given to this group of three friends, now only two.
And the “The”?
It’s simply a tribute to the one who gave us the strength to create all of this ❤️
